Abhaile | Homing

BIO
Shipsey’s first solo exhibition, Abhaile | Homing (An Cultúrlann, 2023) employs digital photocollage to explore feelings on social change a century on from the Irish civil war. In 2024 a photographic self-portrait came second in a portrait prize. Her portrait in oils ‘Youtuber in the Supermarket’, shortlisted for the Harley Prize, is among several works in oils selected for exhibition. She also works in photocollage & assemblage — methods that appeal not so much for their Surrealist and Pop art precedents as much as their potential to explore themes of interest. Her short films have also earned two awards. Photographs, art and text by Shipsey have appeared in Reservoir Road, Cassandra Voices and other journals. Shipsey’s photo series Constitutional is published online as an Open Eye Story with Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool.
